Please Log inIndian Formal / Western Formal. If you do not have an Indian outfit, feel free to wear what you like, as long as it's a little formal and you can dance in it :). Remember to wear comfortable shoes, unless you are prepared to dance bare feet!
The Sangeet is a light-hearted, exuberant celebration with music and dance, and offers an informal setting for Priya's and Lakshay's families and friends to socialize and get to know each other. It will be an evening filled with cocktails, a variety of food stations, dance performances by friends and family and lots of fun & music to dance the night away, in celebration of the wedding to come!
Indian weddings are festive, colorful occasions. Please wear Indian Traditional or Western Formal. Ladies - this is your chance to wear your best colorful sarees, lehengas or any traditional attire!
Traditionally, the Baraat is the wedding procession that starts from the groom's house and ends at the bride's.
Since the wedding is at The Book Cadillac, Lakshay's Baraat will start at 2:00PM from Washington Blvd and State Street, and end at the entrance of the Book Cadillac, where Priya's family will welcome Lakshay's family in a fusion of Punjabi and Konkani rituals.
The DJ will be leading the Baraat - so be prepared to dance, A LOT and make sure to make noise so Priya can hear you arriving!
The wedding ceremony will take place under a canopy-like structure called a mandap. Dr Shivkumar Bhat-ji, who has known Priya all her life, will officiate the ceremony and many relatives will perform specific roles under his guidance.
The bride and groom will be seated in front of the priest for most of the ceremony. Dr. Bhat-ji will recite verses in Sanskrit, and will also provide English explanations of the rituals. More information on the customs and significance of the rituals are in our Wedding Program.
